The Grasshoppers

Whittles Jewellers are excited to be associated with another proud, local institution; The Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Club. The Hoppers, similarly to Whittles have a long-established heritage in Preston, starting life in 1869. How far they have come since their first match when they took a beating at the hands of Lancaster Royal Grammar School. Now an Institution with a long history with multiple teams and genders participating in rugby of all ages. Other areas include Events, Hospitality and other sports including the ever-popular Hoppers Rollers Cycle Club.

Team Hoppers

The Ladies Rugby Team was founded in 2002, and since then it has become a big part of the Hoppers family. Women’s Rugby has seen huge growth over the last 10 years with the Hoppers Ladies following this trend with a strong squad of over 40 ladies.

With the increasing popularity of Women’s rugby and numbers growing at the Hoppers in the under 12, 15 and 18’s teams, the future of Women’s’ rugby at Preston Grasshoppers can only go from strength to strength and we hope Whittles Jewellers can be at the very centre of their future development.
