Grasshoppers Ladies Rugby

Whittles Jewellers continue to sponsor the Ladies Rugby Team at the Grasshoppers Rugby Union Club in Preston. The Association started in 2017 and we try to get involved as much as possible, not just financially but meeting the team and shouting from the sidelines!

Joanna Rhodes, Director at Whittles Jewellers says:

To have the opportunity to support the girls was just fantastic and something we really wanted to get involved with. To get involved with a team, the friendships you can build through it, just to be part of that team and make a difference and for women pushing forward is fantastic.

The 2016 / 17 Season

The With the 2016/17 season has been a stellar year for the Ladies Team with some great performances against teams that previously took a victory against us. Through steady recruitment over the summer the new ladies team took shape and with preseason wins in the summers 7s competitions by winning the Skofic’s annual tournament, reaching the final at Chester and coming runner up in the North England Regional finals at West Park Leeds there seem to be a real buzz and confidence growing in the team.

There were strong confident performances securing wins against Carlisle and Garstang, Chester and Altrincham and a satisfying win away to the Vagabonds in the Isle of Man were a credit to the spirit of our side.

The team will push on with a greater determination that will them well into 2018.
